BIBLE STORY

Read: Matthew 2:1-12 (The Wise Men Visit Jesus) Why do you think King Herod was upset? What did the wise men do when they found Jesus? What gifts did they give him?

BIBLE VERSE Memorize: “We have seen his star as it arose, and we have come to worship him!” Matthew 2:2

SING Sing one of your family’s favorite Christmas songs. Look up the lyrics on the Internet (e.g., Joy to the World, Silent Night, O Come All Ye Faithful).

ACTIVITY: Hunt and Seek Everyone loves a treasure hunt. Cut out some stars and write a series of clues on them. Give your child a starting point like their room. Post a star on the door that lead to a second star clue and that will lead them to a third and so forth. Here are some suggestions: 1. This is a cold spot. (the freezer). 2. This always reflects you. (mirror) 3. This is music to your ears. (CD player) 4. The last clue: The greatest treasure of all. (The Nativity Scene).

LESSON The Wise Men and the Shepherds searched for Jesus and found him. Imagine their excitement in getting to see the Savior and the Messiah. Knowing Christ is the greatest treasure in the world.

PRAY List some things you can praise God for as a family. Share prayer requests about individuals your family needs to pray for. “Thank you, God, for coming and being born in manger. Thank you for the promise that you are always with us. Amen.”
